Here’s why flags will be flown at half-staff in Washington this weekend

Five firefighters from Washington state will be among the hundred-plus honored during the memorial weekend.

OLYMPIA, Wash — Flags will be lowered to half-staff this weekend across Washington state as part of a tribute to fallen firefighters.

Governor Bob Ferguson issued the directive Monday that all state agency facilities will lower flags to half-staff at the close of business Friday, and leave them until sunset on Sunday.
