Here’s how many federal employees have been fired in Washington state

There are 76,000 federal employees in Washington.

SEATTLE — Washington state joined a lawsuit Wednesday against the Office of Personnel Management’s firing of thousands of federal employees, calling their efforts “damaging” and “illegal.”

Since President Donald Trump took office, he and Elon Musk have fired thousands of federal workers or pressured them to leave their jobs in favor of a buyout in their quest to limit the federal government’s overall reach. 

Washington Attorney General Nick Brown called the scheme an “all-out assault on public service,” noting that federal agencies and their employees have been thrown into chaos.
