Four-week construction to cause lane closures, reductions along I-5 Ship Canal Bridge

There will be four weeks of closures and lane reductions as contractors repair the aging bridge.

SEATTLE — The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) said Tuesday to be prepared for lane closures and reductions along the Interstate 5 Ship Canal Bridge this summer. 

According to WSDOT, there will be four weeks of construction for the aging bridge this year, so officials can complete the project before the end of 2027 and avoid conflicts with the FIFA World Cup in 2026.
