A federal judge ordered the U.S. government to reinstate a UW student’s visa, temporarily halting a decision made by the Trump administration.
TACOMA, Wash. — A federal judge in Tacoma has ordered the U.S. government to reinstate the visa of a University of Washington graduate student, after it was terminated by the Trump administration.
The judge’s 14-day temporary restraining order gives the student back his legal status—allowing him to resume classes and protects him from being detained by ICE.
The ruling made by Chief Judge David Estudillo dealt a blow to the Trump administration’s efforts to cancel student visas for thousands of international students.
