Fans cheer on players from Puyallup in Little League World Series

The South Hill All-Stars were defeated by Florida in their opening game in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

PUYALLUP, Wash. — Fans packed a Puyallup bar on Friday night to cheer on the South Hill All-Stars in the Little League World Series, which is being played more than 2,000 miles away in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. 

“We have to support them, our sons play with a lot of them and we have to show them we’re here supporting them and watching them 100 percent,” said Shelby Smith.

The team, made up of mostly 12-year-olds, was defeated by Florida 6-1. 

“They’ll get ’em next time,” Smith said.
