Everett man faces federal charges over pipe bomb explosion that destroyed neighbor’s car

The suspect left a voicemail directing racial slurs at the victims and referencing the pipe bomb the day after, police said.

SEATTLE — An Everett man is now facing federal charges in connection with a New Year’s Eve pipe bomb explosion that destroyed a neighbor’s car.

Steven Goldstine, 54, left the victims a voicemail containing racial slurs and referencing the explosion the day after the incident, according to police. Goldstine was initially booked on suspicion of a hate crime by Everett police but now faces charges of illegal possession of a destructive device, a firearm and ammunition in a Seattle U.S. District Court.
