Everett day shelter granted 2-month reprieve before it must move out of downtown

This comes after the city of Everett previously ordered it to close by the end of February because of a city policy that’s been in place since 2018 that doesn’t allow social services to operate at the ground level in the downtown core. 

“It’s like a safe haven,” said Giovanna Silvestri.

Her safe haven is still in danger of shutting down. “I’m outside sleeping against a building and my friends are dying and this place is going to close, so it’s just a lot to take in and a lot to process,” said Silvestri.
