Everett City Council to vote on controversial 'no sit, no lie' ordinance

The Everett City Council will vote Wednesday evening on a controversial homeless ordinance that would ban sitting or lying within a 10-block area of the city.

Council Bill 2102-06 would prevent people from sitting, lying down and placing furniture such as sleeping bags, blankets and mattresses in public sidewalks and right of way in a designated radius around the Interstate 5 overpass on Smith Avenue, an area where council members say there has been an increase in crime.
