Crowded crematories creating bottleneck in Kitsap County coolers

A leader with the Kitsap County Medical Examiner’s Office said the industry needs more crematories to balance the overwhelming demand.

BREMERTON, Wash. — Mortuaries in western Washington are overcrowded, and it’s a big problem for medical examiners.

A new law went into effect June 6 to create more space, but leaders in Kitsap County told KING 5 Thursday that it is still not enough. They’re now calling for more crematoriums and for the public to better communicate their final arrangement wishes with loved ones.
