A crucial detour for West Seattle drivers will face a series of closures beginning this Friday, adding more travel headaches for residents trying to get on and off the peninsula.
The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) said that lane reductions for state Route 99 Duwamish River Bridge — also known as the First Avenue South Bridge — will begin the night of March 5 and last from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. on March 6.
The southbound bridge will be reduced to two lanes March 10-15, and full overnight closures are scheduled for March 14 and 15. Northbound lanes are not expected to be impacted at this time.
