More drivers heading to and from West Seattle will soon be able to use the lower Spokane Street Bridge during the closure of the high bridge.
The Seattle Department of Transportation announced Thursday that it will expand access the lower swing bridge for certain groups of drivers, adding approximately 450 trips per day over the bridge. Since the high bridge closure in March 2020, access from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. has been limited to emergency vehicles, transit, employer shuttles, vanpools, port workers and freight vehicles.
