Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan announced Friday that her office will extend the city’s eviction moratorium until Sept. 30, 2021, marking the fifth extension of the order as the economy rebounds from the COVID-19 pandemic. The current moratorium was set to expire at the end of June.
Under the order, people can be evicted on issues of health or safety, but not because they’re unable to pay their rent. Renters also can’t accrue late fees or other charges.
