Business owners in Seattle’s Chinatown-International District are hoping to shed negative energy associated with crime rates as they celebrate the Year of the Snake.
SEATTLE — Wednesday marked the first time the Lunar New Year is a state holiday in Washington state. Tens of thousands of people are celebrating statewide, with many heading to Seattle’s Chinatown-International District.
“Today is the day of positivity, good fortune, so we turn the page over,” said Eric Chan.
