Carjacking at US-Canada border ends in Skagit County

A border patrol officer was nearly struck at the crossing, according to Washington State Patrol.

SKAGIT COUNTY, Wash. — A carjacking suspect is in custody after leading law enforcement on a chase from the U.S.-Canada border to Skagit County.

The carjacking occurred at the border crossing in Blaine around 1:30 p.m. Thursday afternoon. A border patrol officer was nearly struck at the crossing, according to Washington State Patrol.

Border patrol pursued the vehicle on southbound Interstate 5 toward Bellingham. Border patrol also deployed air assets. 

As the pursuit entered Bellingham, state patrol took over.
