Candidates called to apply as Morales exits Seattle’s District 2 seat

The council will have 20 days beginning Jan. 7 to select a candidate to serve in the District 2 seat until an election can be held in November.

SEATTLE — Applications opened Thursday for the District 2 seat on the Seattle City Council. 

Tammy Morales, who serves in the position currently, announced her resignation from the council in December, citing concerns about how the council is being run and worries “about the future of this institution.” Her official last day with the council will be Jan. 6. 

The council will then have a 20-day period to fill the seat, according to the city charter,
