Washingtonians will now have an extra week to help the state’s Transportation Commission come up with a name for its new hybrid electric ferry.
The commission issued a call-out in July seeking name suggestions for the newest vessel in the 21-boat fleet, which hasn’t seen an addition since 2016. Last week, the commission pushed the deadline from Oct. 1 to Oct. 8.
“We extended the deadline just to allow those working on proposals a bit more time,” Executive Director Reema Griffith said in an email. “We don’t typically get many proposals before the deadline, given it takes some time to put them together.”
