The halt on jet deliveries is yet another blow to the airplane manufacturer, potentially to the tune of $1.5 billion.
RENTON, Wash. — On Tuesday, Bloomberg reported that China instructed its airlines to stop accepting deliveries of Boeing jets, dealing another potential financial blow to the airplane manufacturer’s years-long recovery.
The order came in retaliation for steep tariffs levied against Chinese imports by President Donald Trump, sparking a fast-escalating trade war between the two countries. Tuesday night, Trump announced that the tariffs on Chinese goods had been raised to 245%, while Beijing instituted 125% tariffs on U.S. imports.
