‘Absolutely in shock’: KEXP radio DJ shares story of barely escaping bomb blast on Burien road

New surveillance video obtained by KING 5 shows the terrifying moments for drivers.

BURIEN, Wash. — A man, woman and child narrowly evaded a seemingly random fiery explosion in Burien Friday, Oct. 11, while driving on 116th Street around 5:30 p.m.

John Richards, who is well-known in western Washington as a radio DJ for KEXP’s morning show, told KING 5 that he and his child had just picked up his wife from the airport and were driving home to West Seattle when a ball fell onto the road.
