EVERETT, Wash. — Firefighters with Snohomish Regional Fire and Rescue (SRFR) prepare for another long, hot wildfire season.
Low snowpack and a historically dry January mean fire season could start earlier this year. Wildfires, once relegated to the eastern side of the state, are becoming more common and more destructive in the west.
“Our typical small fires have escalated and grown to become a lot larger here on the western side of the mountains,” said Brian Kees, SRFR’s lieutenant.
