The Málaga Film Festival unveiled winners from its various lineups this afternoon, where Eva Libertad’s “Deaf” walked away with a fest-best four prizes, including best actress (Miriam Garlo), actor (Álvaro Cervantes), the audience award and best picture.
Libertad’s debut feature is an expansion of the eponymous Goya-nominated short she co-directed with Nuria Muñoz, starring her sister Garlo, an acclaimed deaf actress. The film tells the story of Angela (Garlo), a pregnant deaf woman, and Hector (Cervantes), her hearing partner.
