ALLEN PARK, Mich. — Calvin Johnson was limited in last week’s win over the Cleveland Browns because of an injured right knee, but the Detroit Lions’ all-pro receiver was back on the practice field Wednesday.
He went through position drills and ran routes without a defender covering him during the 30-minute portion of practice open to reporters.
On Sunday, he played just 38 snaps and had a season-low three catches for 25 yards in a 31-17 victory over Cleveland.
Running back Joique Bell, who left Sunday’s game with a rib injury, also practiced Wednesday, and fullback Montell Owens practiced for the first time since a training-camp knee injury landed him on injured reserve with a designation to return.
Owens is not eligible to come off IR for another three weeks.
Nate Burleson (arm), Tony Scheffler (brain), Theo Riddick (brain), Jason Fox (knee) and Louis Delmas (knee) did not practice for the Lions today.
Rashean Mathis, who left the Browns game with a groin injury, took part in the open portion of practice.
