The truck driver involved has died as a result of the crash, according to WSP Trooper John Dattilo.
TACOMA, Wash. — Interstate 5 was closed in both directions in South Tacoma following a fatal semi truck crash early Tuesday morning.
The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) reported that a “major” collision occurred around 4:46 a.m. near the 84th Street exit on I-5 north. All lanes were closed for hours. Two southbound lanes reopened after 8 a.m.
Washington State Patrol Trooper John Dattilo said the truck collided with a barrier. The driver of the semi-truck was killed in the crash.
