Chuckanut Drive fully blocked after rockslide with no estimated time for reopening

BLANCHARD, Wash — A scenic state route near Bellingham is fully blocked after a rockslide Tuesday morning.

State Route 11, also known as Chuckanut Drive, remains fully closed just north of Blanchard Road after a rockslide occurred just before 9 a.m.

Washington State Patrol and Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) officials are on scene assessing the damage. Drivers are asked to seek alternate routes and there is no estimated time for reopening the roadway, WSDOT says.

Nearby train tracks were not impacted by the rockslide, WSP says.
