Federal funding cuts forcing Snohomish County food banks to cut back

Stagnant donations and federal funding cuts have the Sultan Food Bank reducing its distributions.

SULTAN, Wash. — Kristi Randall is the face of America’s new middle class.

She has nine people under her roof, including six kids and a grandchild. The family moved from Everett to the small Snohomish County city of Sultan to escape crime and the rising cost of living.

But the cost of living continues its relentless pursuit.

The Randalls spend at least $1200 a month on groceries and have to pinch every penny.
