Seattle debating stricter rules for late-night venues after spate of gun violence

SEATTLE — The Seattle City Council is weighing a proposal to implement stricter rules for late-night lounges to address gun violence associated with the city’s nightlife. 

The City Attorney’s Office presented the proposal Tuesday, focusing on establishments that remain open past 2 a.m. According to Deputy City Attorney Scott Lindsay, about 15-20 venues have been linked to a significant number of after-hours shootings.
