39-year-old Seattle Aquarium harbor seal Barney dies

Barney was roughly the equivalent of a 100-year-old human, according to the aquarium.

SEATTLE — The Seattle Aquarium is mourning the loss of a beloved harbor seal that was one of the oldest in human care.

Barney was 39 years old, which is “roughly the equivalent of a 100-year-old human,” according to the aquarium.

“We know that many in the community will join the Aquarium’s staff and volunteers in mourning this loss. Barney will be remembered and missed,” says Aquarium President and CEO Bob Davidson.
