State hopes to reopen Hoh Rainforest access road by May

Private donors gave $27,000 toward the repairs, which Jefferson County officials are hoping to complete before summer.

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Wash. — The state has found the funds to complete the repairs on the Hoh Rainforest access road. Officials are hoping to reopen that area of Olympic National Park by May. 

The Hoh Rain Forest has been closed since several feet of Upper Hoh Road were washed away by heavy rains last December. 

Jefferson County officials were initially concerned they wouldn’t get the required funds to repair the road by this summer after two requests for federal funding went unfulfilled.
