Washington’s Employment Security Department said unemployment applications from federal employees have doubled since last year.
WASHINGTON, USA — Unemployment claims from former federal workers have doubled from this time last year, according to the Washington Employment Security Department (ESD).
As of Wednesday, 952 federal employees who were laid off from their jobs have applied for unemployment benefits since the start of this year. A majority, 720, of those claims were filed after Jan. 20, when President Donald Trump was inaugurated.
