TUMWATER, Wash. — The Tumwater School District’s Board of Directors voted Thursday to ban transgender girls from participating in girls sports.
The resolution passed by a vote of 3-1.
It comes approximately two weeks after a complaint was filed against the district on behalf of the family of a Tumwater High School girls basketball who protested the participation of a transgender athlete from Shelton in a game against Tumwater.
Board president Melissa Beard was the lone member to vote against the policy.
