The $19.5 million center to help those dealing with drug and mental health issues was supposed to open in October. It hasn’t seen a single patient.
LYNNWOOD, Wash. — The crisis center is part of the new Lynnwood police headquarters.
It’s the first of its kind in Snohomish County, where people can get the help they need without putting a strain on emergency departments.
“Most of the people we come into contact with who are in crisis don’t get arrested,” says Deputy Chief Chuck Steichen. “A jail cell isn’t the solution. It does nothing to address the root cause of the problem.”
