Windstorm damage: extensive power outages and road closures hit western Washington

Wind gusts that approached 60 mph have knocked down power lines and trees throughout the region.

SEATTLE — Over 100,000 households across western Washington are dealing with power outages after a significant overnight windstorm knocked down power lines and trees throughout the region.

As of 7:45 a.m. a.m. Tuesday, over 100,000 Puget Sound Energy customers are without power. Seattle City Light is reporting over 20,000 households without power, while Tacoma Public Utilities is seeing over 2,700 customers without power. Further north, Snohomish County Public Utilities District (PUD) is reporting over 9,000 households that have lost power.
