Seattle’s Lunar New Year bash draws thousands, bringing business boost and hope to CID

SEATTLE — We’re nearly two months into 2025, but on Saturday, thousands of people were celebrating a new beginning in Seattle’s Chinatown-International District as part of the historic neighborhood’s Lunar New Year celebration. 

“All of our neighborhoods are special, but the CID is really a unique jewel,” said Greg Wong, Seattle’s deputy mayor.

The CID Business Improvement Area, a nonprofit focused on promoting the neighborhood, hosted its annual Lunar New Year Celebration on Saturday, which showcased performances from six local Asian groups and more than 100 vendors. Businesses owners KING 5 spoke with said the event brings a huge boost to sales and excitement to the neighborhood.
