Elijah Lewis was shot and killed by Patrick Cooney after an altercation on a Seattle street. Cooney claims he shot in self defense.
SEATTLE — A jury found Patrick Cooney guilty of second-degree murder in the road rage shooting death of a 23-year-old Seattle community activist, Elijah Lewis.
Cooney was also found guilty of first-degree assault for injuring Lewis’ 9-year-old nephew, who was in the car at the time of the shooting.
The incident took place on April 1, 2023.
Prosecutors alleged Cooney, riding a motorized scooter, fired five shots at Lewis’s car as it drove away following a traffic dispute. Cooney’s
