TUMWATER, Wash. — A 400-year-old oak tree in Tumwater may not be cut down after all.
Based on a second assessment of the Davis Meeker Garry Oak tree, new options to spare the tree from being cut down are on the table. The city will discuss what to do with the tree next month.
The tree is on the city’s historical registry.
In May of 2024, Tumwater Mayor Debbie Sullivan authorized the removal of the tree.
