King County begins mailing out property tax bills; some areas to see double-digit increases in rates

The King County Assessor’s Office announced that it started sending out 2021 property tax bills on Tuesday — the first issued since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Most residents can expect a 4.03% general increase in King County property tax collections for 2021 due to voter-approved special levies, according to the assessor’s office. But property owners in some parts of the county should be braced for increases in the double digits this year.

Algona will see the highest increase, up 18% compared to 2020 followed by Maple Valley and Pacific, which are up 15% and 13% respectively. Enumclaw also saw a double digit increase in property taxes this year, up
