Puget Sound braces for bitter cold as temperatures plunge

The Seattle area could see record-breaking low temperatures this week.

SEATTLE — Most of the Puget Sound area is under a Cold Weather Advisory through Wednesday morning as bitter cold temperatures take hold.

In the Seattle-Tacoma metro area; western Skagit, San Juan and Whatcom counties; and the east Puget Sound lowlands, very cold wind chills could lower temperatures to 15 to 20 degrees. The southwest interior, Hood Canal area, Strait of Juan de Fuca and north coast could see temperatures between 10 and 20 degrees.

The advisory lifts Wednesday at 10 a.m.
