SEATTLE — KING 5 has obtained new video showing someone damaging a beloved public art exhibit in Seattle’s Chinatown-International District. The artwork highlights Japanese American history. The crime has some in the CID wondering if the incident is a hate crime.
“It’s really upsetting that someone would do this to the artwork,” said Craig Murakami.
Vandalism was caught on camera in Nihonmachi Alley near 6th and Jackson last month. The new video is bringing up more questions than answers. “Without getting into that person’s head, it’s really hard to know what the motive is,” said Murakami.
Murakami’s family has owned the Jackson Building for more than 90 years. On the side
