Officials worry a ‘killer’ batch of fentanyl is causing a rash of overdoses in Skagit County

Skagit County drug enforcement officials are worried a “killer” batch of fentanyl has made its way into common street drugs like meth and cocaine.

SKAGIT COUNTY, Wash. — There have been an “alarming number” of fentanyl-related overdoses and deaths in Skagit County this month, according to drug enforcement officials. 

Nine people have died since Jan. 1, and five of those deaths occurred in the past week. EMS has responded to nearly 20 overdose calls so far this month.
