Bothell’s affordable housing project gains city support through land gift to church

The City of Bothell is donating land to a local church for affordable housing and a community center.

As pastors seek inspiration inside the “house of the lord” at Bothell’s United Methodist Church, thoughts inevitably turn to the housing crisis facing so many just outside its front door.

“This congregation is very aware of the struggles,” says Pastor Kristin Joyner.

Joyner and Rev. Joe Kim are evangelists for change in the area’s out-of-control housing market.

“Anyone who didn’t buy 20 or 30 years ago is struggling to buy housing and to pay the rent,” says Joyner.
