First 5 p.m. sunset of the year coming this week

Seattle is about to experience its first 5 p.m. sunset since early November.

SEATTLE — Seattle is set to hit a milestone this week as the Emerald City sees its first 5 p.m. sunset of the year. 

Sunset on Jan. 25 will be at 5 p.m. It’s Seattle’s first 5 p.m. sunset since before daylight saving time ended in early November. On Nov. 2, 2024, the sun set at 5:49 p.m., the day before we set our clocks back an hour.
