One injured in shooting near Lincoln High School in Tacoma

A juvenile was taken into custody on an assault charge in connection to the shooting.

TACOMA, Wash. — One juvenile was shot near Tacoma’s Lincoln High School Monday afternoon.

According to the Tacoma Police Department, the shooting occurred in the early afternoon in the 600 block of South 37th Street, which is about a block away from the school.

Tacoma Public Schools said in a statement that the incident “most likely involved Lincoln students but occurred off campus.” The school was placed on lockdown, and then a modified lockdown was implemented shortly after.
