Family, friends of 80-year-old woman killed in Seattle carjacking pay respects at growing memorial

SEATTLE — In Seattle’s Madison Valley neighborhood, people are sharing so many memories about Ruth Dalton, a beloved neighborhood dog walker.

“We all love her. Everybody loved her, and I know she is looking down,” said Melanie Roberts, Dalton’s granddaughter.

One day after a deadly carjacking claimed Dalton’s life, community members stopped in the neighborhood where it happened to pay their respects.

“Just a horrendous crime,” Pam Newcomer said.

“I heard two very loud screams,” said John Ayala.
