Man arrested in connection to fatal shooting at Seattle 7-Eleven

SEATTLE — A 36-year-old man was arrested Saturday in connection to a fatal shooting at a north Seattle 7-Eleven.

He was booked into King County Jail on charges of second-degree murder and first-degree unlawful possession of a firearm.

The shooting happened just before 3 p.m. Aug. 13 behind the convenience store, which is located near Magnuson Park. According to Seattle police, the victim, 41-year-old Matthew Robert Budney, was found with a gunshot wound to the chest. First responders tried to perform CPR, but Budney died at the scene.

It is still unclear what led up to the shooting.
