Rain arrives on what’s typically Seattle’s driest day of the year

Seattle is expected to snap a 31-day dry streak Monday as rain moves into western Washington.

SEATTLE — Seattle saw rain for the first time in a month Monday, capping off what is usually the city’s driest month.

The last time Seattle saw measurable rainfall was June 27 when 0.02 inches of rain fell.

It’s rare that Seattle sees rain on July 29. Since recordkeeping began in 1945, measurable rainfall has occurred less frequently on July 29 than any other day of the year. Seattle has gotten measurable rain just four times, which is 5% of all days recorded, according to National Weather Service
