Pioneer fire near Chelan expected to burn for 4 more months, grows to 3,800 acres

The fire is 0% contained and is expected to keep burning until Halloween.

CHELAN, Wash. — The Pioneer Fire has grown to 3,800 acres near the north shore of Lake Chelan. At 0% containment, the fire is expected to continue burning until late October, according to Inciweb

The fire was around 300 acres last week but grew over ten times its size. The fire has been “actively moving up and down the lake,” according to Inciweb. Officials suspect the fire began as a structure fire that spread to the wildland. However, the cause is still under investigation. The fire initially sparked on Saturday, June 8.
