According to officials this week, the country welcomed over a million visitors by air and sea in January alone, the majority of whom were Americans.
Less sargassum than Cancun
The sargassum issue is primarily limited to east-facing Caribbean areas. It is an issue, and a hard one to predict.
West-facing areas such as the Bayahibe area of the Dominican Republic are much cleaner than Cancun.
