Portugal also took home a total of 17 European honors in different categories. The Algarve won the title of “Europe’s Leading Beach Destination,” Lisbon won the title of “Europe’s Leading City Destination,” Madeira won the title of “Europe’s Leading Island Destination,” and the Passadiços do Paiva in Arouca won the title of “Europe’s Leading Adventure Tourist Attraction 2023.”
“This award is an international recognition of Portugal, its companies, its workers and the Portuguese,” said Nuno Fazenda, Secretary of State for Tourism, Commerce and Services.
